Um golfinho, inspirado pela personagem a que Ricky Gervais deu a voz na serie animada "Family Guy". Usei novelo Lion Brand Vanna's Choice Solids na cor Sapphire; agulhas tamanho 6 US (4.0 mm).  O esquema e do livro "World of Knitted Toys" de Kath Dalmeny.

Uma cenoura inspirada pelos desenhos animados "Road Runner". O esquema e de Hansi Singh do livro "Amigurumi Knits". Usei novelos Patons Classic Wool em laranja e verde; agulhas tamanho 6 US (4.0 mm).

Iron Craft Challenge #5 - Hey Buddy, Can You Spare a Dollar?

Esta semana o desafio foi fazer algo com materiais que se encontrem nas lojas tipo "dos trezentos".  La fui e, depois de zanzar por alguns minutos, encontrei uma seccao de meias. E na ala dos materiais escolares encontrei um saquinho de olhos para bonecos.

This week the challenge was to craft something from materials found at a dollar store. I went and after some isle wandering I found a section of socks. And by the school supplies I found some googly eyes.

A minha intencao era fazer um boneco. Comecei sem plano especifico e nem cheguei a usar os olhos, preferi bordar os detalhes com la preta. Usei apenas uma das meias, tesoura, agulha e linha. E pronto, ficou assim. E um... gato.... ou talvez um coelho. :)

My intention was to make a critter. I started with no specific plan and I then decided to not use the eyes but to embroider the details using black yarn. I only used one of the socks, scissors, needle and thread. And this is the outcome. It's a.... cat .... or maybe a bunny. :)

Annual event that gathers fiber and other arts groups and associations. At the historical "Seiberling Mansion" and "Elliot House" in the city of Kokomo, Indiana.

Iron Craft Challenge #4 - Catalogue Creation

Para esta semana o tema foi fazer algo que tenhamos visto numa loja ou catalogo, mas que decidimos nao comprar porque achamos que era coisa que podiamos fazer em casa. Eu tenho visto recentemente varios abafos para maos a antiga e, como tenho sempre as maos frias, achei que seria perfeito para este tema.

Usei tecido tipo peluche, tesoura, maquina de costura, agulha, linha e as magnificas instrucoes "The Big Red Muff Tutorial" do blog LauPre.

For this challenge we had to make something we've seen in a catalogue or store that we didn't buy because it was something we could make ourselves. Lately I've seen a comeback of the old fashioned hand muff and since my hands are always cold, it was the perfect project for this theme.

I used short faux-fur fabric, scissors, sewing machine, needle and thread and the awesome instructions for "The Big Red Muff Tutorial" from the blog LauPre.

Iron Craft Challenge #3 - Warm Up

Esta semana o tema foi fazer algo que nos aqueca. Aqui, apesar de termos tido um Inverno muito estranho e menos severo, ainda esta tudo coberto de neve e bem frio. Assim, decidi fazer um cachecol a partir de uma camisola mais antiga. Separei-a em partes: frente, tras, mangas e gola; cortei a frente e verso ao meio no sentido do comprimento. A seguir abri as costuras das mangas e a da gola.

This week the theme was to make something to keep us warm. Here, although this Winter had been strange and less severe, everything is still covered in snow and still cold. So, I decided to make a scarf from an old sweater. I separated it in parts: front, back, sleeves and collar; I cut the front and back in half lengthwise. Then opened the sleeves and collar at the seams.

 A seguir combinei todas as partes de modo a formar um rectangulo longo e duplo, cortando pedacos quando necessario, e cosi a maquina; dexei uma pequena abertura para virar do avesso, que fechei cosendo a mao.

Then I combined all the pieces to form a long double rectangle, cutting pieces as needed, and using a sewing machine sewed it together; I left a small opening to turn it inside out that I then sewn closed by hand.

E muito macio e quentinho.

It's very soft and warm.

Iron Craft Challenge #2 - Hearts and Flowers

Esta semana o tema foram as flores e os coracoes. E eu decidi-me por uma fita para o cabelo em crochet decorada com flores. O esquema, Summer Rose, e de Drops Design. Feito com uma pequena quantidade de Cascade Ultra Pima em rosa choque e agulha de crochet tamanho E/3.5 mm.

This week our theme was hearts and flowers. I decided to make a crochet head band with flowers. The pattern, Summer Rose, e by Drops Design. Made using a small amount of Cascade Ultra Pima in hot pink and crochet needle size e/3.5 mm.

Iron Craft Challenge #1 - Paper

O primeiro tema do ano e fazer algo usando papel. Eu optei por um projecto em origami e fiz um casal Japones. Usei as instrucoes e papel deste kit e uma moldura simples em preto.

The first challenge of the year is to make something using paper. I chose an origami project and made a Japanese couple. I used the instructions and paper from this kit and a simple black frame.

Os meus gaiatos tambem decidiram participar. :)

My kiddos also decided to participate. :)

Levamos os miudos a ver este filme e adorei! A animacao e a historia sao ambas optimas. Recomendo!

We took the kids to watch this movie and I loved it! Both the animation and the story are excellent. I recommend it!
